Man Lost His Soul not Knowing the Definition to Two Words!

Let us begin this study with a short heartfelt and meaningful prayer, that we would have the Lord lead us into all righteousness and that we could learn to fulfil all righteousness in all that He has intended for us to do with this life that He gave to us to live to its fullest, in Jesus’ name Amen.

I think any sermon or theological paper should always start with a cause and effect principle or structure to it, we see this with almost all the stories in the Bible. The stories present their case and then show the outcome to all that transpires; the cause and the effect principle. Now let me get directly to the point of my Lesson, when man lost not only his soul due to him losing his ability to know what the true meaning to this one word is: UNDERSTANDING!! And the other word we will discuss in the latter half of this discussion, Grace.

Now let me get to the cause of this situation that man has gotten himself in, when God made the earth and the heavens He used His wisdom and His knowledge to create everything to His specifications; this was the first example in the purest form of UNDERSTANDING. He did this because He had the ability, that all man is still desperately needing today; for this one ingredient or ability: God did all these things because He wanted a relationship with His creation; the ability to interact with a creation that was eternally evolving in its own direction, by mans mistakes (due to sin), up to this point I might add. Look I have history to back up this claim! Man’s empires always fall and they self-destruct mainly from the inside, just as the events in the Garden of Eden. It is just a matter of time before we get our just rewards; either good or bad. When man lost the ability to discern wisdom and knowledge and the word understanding, he lost his salvation to eternal life with his God our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ.

Man can and is indeed searching for all knowledge, we have almost countless opportunities to search out knowledge at a great price I might add, look at the cost of Higher Education these days and it keeps going higher each year. All of this is to no avail if we do not learn again the meaning of one word. The true meaning of the word Understanding!!  Let us look now at the true definition of the word understanding that our scholars have given to us: Understanding (also called intellection) is a psychological process related to an abstract or physical object, such as a person, situation, or message whereby one is able to think about it and use concepts to deal adequately with that object. Understandingis a relation between the knower and an object of understanding. Understanding implies abilities and dispositions with respect to an object of knowledge sufficient to support *intelligent behavior*. An understanding is the limit of a conceptualization. To understand something is to have conceptualized it to a given measure (but the hidden truth is still lacking in definition here). Now I can go into much deeper relationships to understanding for it goes into the realms of psychological, physiological, as well as every theology or any other doctrine that has ever been taught as well because we are to use understanding in every aspect of our lives but we don’t.

But the plain and simple truths I’m trying to relate is; just how far man has gotten away from the true ability to understand. The key to my writing this is to try and make apparent what man has to do to become one with our God, Lord and Saviour again. Our main objective in this life has changed from what it used to be when God created us. The simplest way to show you is in the Garden of Eden, when Adam and Eve first stumbled because they forgot understanding; the ability to practice (use wisdom and knowledge) what they have learned and put it to practical use (to have understanding when we use what we have learned and have declared as wise and profitable to the body of man)! Gen.2:15And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.16And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: 17But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. Now man at this point had all knowledge that was due him in order to live forever in light of God’s sovereignty. For man was not naïve as some presume that he was, for God had put in man the ability to know and to have wisdom as well as understand-ing, for God made man in His image, so we must assume the first man, Adam that was made in His (God’s) likeness had to be a perfect man, with all knowledge, except for good and evil; Gen.1:27So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. This is the reason God condemned them because they blatantly refused God’s perfect way and perfect know-ledge to gain more knowledge at the cost of understanding. (Man put his wants ahead of God’s, this equals rebellion and sin, from which all sin originates.) When Adam and Eve stepped out on their own in search for knowledge that could be gained from eating the Devine Fruit at the cost of UNDERSTANDING; they created sin as well as death which are the effect of sin, at a cost to all mankind, to pay for eternity!!

Now man is just as obnoxious and arrogant today toward God as he was in Adam and Eve’s day! The plain and simple truth is that man in all his so called sophistication has lost himself in his own stupidity, by being arrogant, and not humbling himself before God. For the truth of the matter is this: Ecc.12:13Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man!!!  I just love the simplicity of the Bible, don’t you?

For man can indeed search and acquire: Ecc.12:9And moreover, because the preacher was wise, he still taught the people knowledge; yea, he gave good heed, and sought out, and set in order many proverbs.10The preacher sought to find out acceptable words: and that which was written was upright, even words of truth.11The words of the wise are as goads, and as nails fastened by the masters of assemblies, which are given from one shepherd. (Refer to Ephesians 4 to One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism, Our Lord Almighty’s church!) 12And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh. Why for this one reason (Eph.5:17-21): Unless we do as God wants; we are in perfect conflict to His nature and death is our only resource in which we build upon in this case to our final outcome in this matter. Ecc.12:8Vanity of vanities, saith the preacher; all is vanity. Because we will all come to know Him sooner or later and sooner is better than later! Ecc.12:7Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it; and we all will stand and give an account for ourselves to God our creator our Lord Jesus Christ.

Remember earlier did you pick up on the part of the definition that leads to salvation?? I’ll show you one more time: Understanding implies abilities and dispositions with respect to an object of knowledge

sufficient to **support intelligent behavior**: A perfect example of cause and effect relationships in which if used correctly gives eternal life! Which leads us to another cause and effect situation; the one when we receive truth and her twin sister’s knowledge and wisdom: for they are the effect of receiving God as our Savior which is true understanding which is the cause or the originator of the perfect ability to do as our Father originally wanted His children to walk in His light in perfect faith, of God’s will for us!! The cause in this case is receiving the Lord as our savior and we are baptized in the Water in His Name and Reborn in His likeness by receiving His Spirit: we gain wisdom, knowledge, and truth and strength in the Spirit to carry out the effect of receiving God; which is true understanding which is the ability to follow God’s command-ments to the letter. This leads to a chain reaction of causes and effects that proceed from the father: When we draw closer to Him He draws closer to us, as long as we seek His righteousness: Matt.6:33But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

This entire world is based and structured on the bases of cause and effects: Its God’s way; when He gave the first commandments, to tend the garden and to obey Him. He put a curse of death on man if he didn’t obey Him this is the effect of not obeying Him. This is primary and fundamental theology at its foundational truths. Man is the one who makes all things complicated with his trying to be smarter than God. 1Cor1: 19For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.20Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this world? Hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 21For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God; it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

Man has gotten to the point that he has messed himself up and this world so drastically by miss prioritizing himself right into oblivion in both ways: Spiritually and Physically!! Why is this so hard for man to see, because he has lost the ability to know who God is and understand (keep His commandments) His ways! The cause and effect of this is what happened when sin entered this world with Satan as sins advocate. God set the dimensions of reality so simple that man just can’t grasp it because of one reason: He wants to be the creator instead of the creation!!

Answer to man’s problem:

Turn not away from the Lord:  For He is in His living word, His Holy Bible!

We can use a safe and time tested manor of revelation and follow all that God has given us in His irrefutable scriptures (2Tim3:16, 17) if we believe one scripture, then we are and must believe all of them, and interpret them correctly so that each one will harmonizes all the rest, to the glory of God: And the effects of that will be life eternal! When we follow God’s words we see He tells us not to turn to the Right Hand or the Left; when we do something other than that, its effect, is eternal death. Really too simple for man to grasp; I can only imagine why man cannot! Somewhere man has gotten into some idiotic tendencies of self destruction for temporary gains; instead of looking at the big picture of the eternal plan of God. I mentioned earlier about mans inability to prioritize, because we all know how smart we have gotten and how mans knowledge is growing so fast we cannot even keep up with the written word being published

in book form: That book with all its facts has already become obsolete before it hits the schools. But I can guarantee one thing right now; all the knowledge we need to know for life eternal has already been published and needs no correction or addition; for John and Paul both said the same thing in different words: Paul said in Gal1:8But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.9As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed: and John in Rev.22: 19And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

Prioritizing

Man has lost his priority of God and His written word, somewhere along the line of man’s psychological, physiological, and philological or whateverological evolution (Prov.17: 24Wisdom is before him that hath understanding; but the eyes of a fool are in the ends of the earth.)  Man is always looking and never seeing what is right in front of him. He, man that is, has stepped off the chosen path and went to the right hand or the left it doesn’t matter. Man has gotten off out of the wide place that God gives His people to dwell in, that is mentioned somewhere in the Psalms (18:19), somewhere in His irrefutable words 2Tim3:16, 17! Man with all his education has become and still is a child in God’s eyes and perceptions of him. For God said that He would become the rock of offence, but it is better to stumble and get up while we have a chance and receive Him as our Lord and Saviour before He comes and crushes this worldly educated man to powder and back to the dust of this earth, with his highly educated soul being put in the “Lake of Fire”!!  Man as smart as he is, is not going to win in his argument to the Lord if he pleads ignorance with this scripture for help: Luke12:48But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes (For this scripture is for those who truly have not heard this gospel message. That we will discuss later in the “Theory of Justification by Works”.). For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more. Many think this is a way out from knowing all there is to know of God and still have eternal life with Him just by trying to be as perfect as a man can be with man’s worldly, carnal ethics and principles.

This is man’s folly again because this is man’s reasoning for if man truly knew God he would know that all God really wants of man is man’s love. If man truly loved God, man would seek Him with all his heart, mind, spirit and soul as the first commandment told all of God’s children to do back in Exodus, to sanctify them-selves and become His peculiar people. If man truly was in love with his creator he would have every one of our schools seeking Him in all His glory for all the people on this earth to come so that they could come to know Him. Man must be under some assumption that he can do as he wishes and worship God any old way man chooses to and be counted as worthy, but if man worships God in man’s definition of worship, man is still considered a non believer in God’s eyes. For God came to earth for two reason to bring salva-tion to the lost and forgiveness of sins, by bringing a division between those that will receive His word and those that think this Bible is foolishness. Luke12:51Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division: 52For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against

two, and two against three. This is the effect of God’s teaching, life or death just one of the two that’s all there is.

Somehow when man gets more revelations about his environment and the world around him he thinks that this is all important work over what we have already learned from God Himself. For somehow man has lost the first thing we were to learn in the Garden of Eden and throughout the Bible, the first principle lesson was to Fear God, priority one!! Why? Matt16:26For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Man has nothing God wants but man’s love and devotion, for if God wants anything at all He simply calls it out and it is. One of the things God cannot do is make us Love Him, it has to be a freewill offering, and how is man going to show his love for God. Does man really think he can negotiate his way out with God or pay God off with some good works? God gave us all we need; He gave us all the things we need in this life to be comfortable and to make everyone of His creations have the ability to help his brother out and to help his brother to become complete in the Lord, as well, as in life with all of his material needs being met and man’s Spiritual needs being fulfilled!

Man’s inability to learn what’s truly important!

2Tim3:7Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. This is because man has lost the ability to have true understanding that only comes from God when we are washed in the blood of Jesus.

Now let us take a theological examination of how we are to achieve perfection in our world that has been given us in our studies of Eschatology, which is the study of end time scriptures that relate to the end of this age and in His sacred word the Holy Scriptures for the things that must be to come Matt.24:14.

I have noticed the word turn in its relation to God’s will for us, there are over two and half pages in my concordance with scriptures with the word turn in them, or an derivative based off the word turn such as turned, turnest, turneth and turning. Out of all these variations of the word turn we see mostly two objects of study, someone is either turning to God or turning away from God for his death sentence. I find one central theme in this Holy Bible given to us by God Himself. This Bible is God’s diary of what to do and what not to do, to be with or without Him. Hopefully it will be the former if we will receive His word in faith believing in 2Tim3:16All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: & 17Thatthe man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

We are still in an issue of priorities

With this being said we see why man is so far from God, man couldn’t see Him (God) if he was looking through the world’s most powerful telescope or the highest powered electron microscope. Because man has forgotten to fear God and that there is an ever present belief that this Holy Book is from man’s imagination. Another thing man presumes is that God is somewhere in a remote area of Heaven that only

God knows and man can’t be seen by God. Man acts as though God doesn’t even exist or is oblivious to our actions on earth. Man is unaware that God is all around him at all times and is omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscience!

Let me clue some of you into a fact, if you study history at all it will prove the existence of God’s irrefutable words, these words that are God breathed through His Holy Spirit filled scribes, prophets, disciples, and apostles! Today’s scientist and archaeologists are proving more and more on each and every dig that the Bible is factual indeed and is trust worthy as a book to the development of man’s civilization and man’s society and fundamental framework.

Types of people

We see in the Bible that there have always been two distinct societies, one group that fear God and one group in which whatever man’s power can get for him, regardless of his brother’s needs: We can see this as far back in the book of Gen.6: 5And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.6And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.

And I can say with all confidence God is getting to the same point with man right now, because of our lack of fear, concern, and the ability to keep our word, even after we make a pledge, oath, or covenant; like at repentance, because we lack understanding. When you understand His word and His commandments you are supposed to keep them and carry them out to His coming!! Not just the ones you seem to think are the important ones, or convenient for you, for they all carry the same death penalty, remember the cause and effect syndrome. John14:15 If you love Me you will keep My commandments. Just as in the Old Testament Jesus is the same today, yesterday and yes He was there in the Old Testament as well as in the New Testament, look to John8:58Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. You might ask for proof of this, so we look to John19:37 which comes from Zach12: 10And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me (Jesus is in God as God is in Jesus as God is manifested in the flesh 1Tim3:16, otherwise God would have told the prophet to say Him that they have pieced, for Jesus was and has always been in the mind of God so that He could be our propitiation for sin) whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.

That’s good enough for me to belief that Jesus was present then as well as right now and is all around us as we read this request for God’s people to come back to know Him: He is next to us reading this as well, so I had better let Him do the writing.

Back to two types of people; this is why there was slavery, and the only reason there was slavery was because God was trying to teach people His ways, and if you didn’t catch the drift of what He was teaching

He was going to put you in a mandatory school of the Israelites, His chosen people that bear His name, His priests’ and they were to teach you; this was the first “Home Bible Studies Course”. Because of man’s abominations and worshipping nature and the physical environment of God’s creation the universe with the Sun and Moon and Stars being deities because God made His universe so majestically that man’s brain couldn’t fathom what they were seeing, but primitive man felt that he had an inherited a since that he was to worship something instead of someone (God in the flesh Jesus), he just couldn’t figure it out on his own until God showed Himself to His chosen people, the true righteous children from Adam and Eve: I’ll tell you why God looked to Adam and Eve’s descendants 1Sam16:7 for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.

So many men and so many styles but one inspiration and the tone of one writer!

And on the topic of a man writing the Bible no one man could have had that good of an imagination or the comprehension to write such a perfect work of literature! Besides that when God’s recorded word gets destroyed God tells the writer to write it again! We can see this in Jeremiah36: 22Now the king sat in the winter house in the ninth month: and there was a fire on the hearth burning before him. 23And it came to pass, that when Jehudi had read three or four leaves, he cut it with the penknife, and cast it into the fire that was on the hearth, until all the roll was consumed in the fire that was on the hearth. 24Yet they were not afraid, nor rent their garments, neither the king, nor any of his servants that heard all these words. 25Nevertheless Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah had made intercession to the king that he would not burn the roll: but he would not hear them. 26But the king commanded Jerahmeel the son of Hammelech, and Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to take Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet: but the LORD hid them. 27Then the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah, after that the king had burned the roll, and the words which Baruch wrote at the mouth of Jeremiah, saying, 28Take thee again another roll, and write in it all the former words that were in the first roll, which Jehoiakim the king of Judah hath burned.

This certainly sounds like man today doesn’t it? Man doesn’t like what God has to say so man just ignores God’s words; the one Book that will keep his eternal soul from the Lake of Fire and man disregards it as folk lore.

Receiving all of God’s Holy Words

Deu.5:31But as for thee, stand thou here by Me, and I will speak unto thee all the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which thou shalt teach them, that they may do them in the land which I give them to possess it.32Ye shall observe to do therefore as the LORD your God hath commanded you: ye shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.33Ye shall walk in all the ways which the LORD your God hath commanded you, that ye may live, and that it may be well with you, and that ye may prolong your days (that man may have eternal life in the new age to come, this was the promise given to Abraham) in the land which ye shall possess.

Simplicity is in the Truth

This message is just as simple as it was back then; keep your promises to God turn not to the right hand or to the left, but walk in the light of the Lord. Just as God told Abram in Gen17: 1And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect. 2And I will make my covenant between Me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly. 3And Abram fell on his face (True fear of the Lord, just how many people do that today?): and God talked with him, saying, 4As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations.5Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.

Indeed this happened; some more irrefutable proof, but I have come up with my own proverb: Fools know nothing and seek even more! But the prudent find wisdom and the fear of the Lord!

Vows and the Strength of words

A teleological argument, or argument from design, attributes the existence of order and direction in nature to some kind of purpose, thereby essentially proving the existence of God. (The word “teleological” is derived from the Greek word telos, meaning “end” or “purpose”.) More generally, teleology is the supposition that there is purpose or directive principle in the works and processes of nature. Immanuel Kant called this argument the physico–theological proof. Refer to Romans1:18-21

This is just one example of man’s attempt to press the point of their own intelligent superiority as to know that there is in fact a God and that He must have ordered the operations of the universe. So man out of his own interpretations of his own intelligence can discuss something into existence, for they are not allowed to go on faith and just believe, because this is against the principles of philosophy and to some degree some areas of physiology and psychology as well, depending on which position man decides to take according to his interpretations of his environment, realism, naturalism, mysticism, and the old time favorite atheism.

Power of the God’s word

I know that people as long as history has been written down on sheepskin or some other parchment, man has always made a living and a way of life for others, out of trying to convince the major public how brilliant they are by baffling people with so many words that their audiences’ can’t remember what they originally started talking about in the first place like right now. A bunch of words to do about nothing! This to me is, psychology, physiology and philosophy and a few otherologies; I love the old saying that when we are discussing the Bible we don’t need to try and defend it, the Bible is like a 2,000 lb. bull you just let it go and it will take care of itself.

Honesty and Ethics

We see the problem with words and their meanings is this; that words in themselves are only as powerful as the person or people or country or whoever spoke them into existence. Many people have lost the importance to how words work, when we speak them, we are supposed to mean what we say, and the people hearing the words are to comprehend our speech, or else we are all just foreigners trying to talk to each other, even in the event we are speaking the same language, if we do not know what the other said, people get wrong impressions and sometimes wars break out in the wake of misunderstanding even when it was entirely accidental!

Breaking of our Vows

We need to understand what we say and we are to back it up with actions (understanding), real physical movements, to place the word into a since of reality, this is true understanding, of what we read or what we spoke or what we have written. The only way we can do this is, is if we believe or better yet and in another word for believe is to have faith in that which or what was talked about will be either true or false or will take place or will not, and the only other class of thought on the matter is that it is must yet be unknown, as to the outcome or to have no comprehension of the thought trying to be relayed upon to the other person.

True innocence of God’s Presence in Creation

The case of not knowing the Lord in true naivety; is only possible if the Lord’s word has never been read, heard, or revealed in intuitions, but that is an impossibility, for God has caused us to inherit an umption to worship good over evil, just by observing nature around him (man) that God put in his (man’s) sub con-sciousness, that was inherited from Adam and Eve. And even in this case if man has never at all heard of God; he is still not lost because God will judge that man according to the Law of Moses; now if the man has never heard the Law of Moses brings about this situation: That man’s heart: If that man had never maliciously harmed good with evil and always did good in return for evil he could inherit the kingdom, because he lived according to God’s commandments without knowing God in his (this man’s) true naivety Romans2: 11For there is no respect of persons with God.12For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law; 13For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.14For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:15Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another ; 16In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.* Because God knows beforehand who will except Him or not, and this man had never heard of the sin of Adam and Eve, so this man will be judged as according to the times of before Abraham and before the Law was; were there was no law established from God to man’s behavior except not to shed innocent blood of another man, Gen.9:6. But what if a man never heard of Adam or Eve or even of the Bible?  John6:44 & 65No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. & 65And he said

“Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father”. Now this only goes as long as that innocent man had never had a bad thought as well and had no thoughts of a situation of a wrong doing and wished it fulfilled, Matt5:28But I say unto you: That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

The likely hood of this ideal situation ever happening is entirely possible but highly UN likely, because Jesus said if we lust after a woman we have just committed adultery with her in our hearts, so we see that the mind of man is the seat of evil and sin. But on the sin issue with all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God issue and all have sinned from Adam on and is inherited, I would like to point out this scripture in evidence of what I call  “Justification of works without knowledge of God”. Prov.24:12If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it? And he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? And shall not he render to every man according to his works?  This was speaking after the Law given to Moses! But I would like to point out one more point to those who have never heard of God and have never seen a missionary, or another white, black or whatever RACE OF MAN; one in which brings forth the Gospel of Jesus Christ, if one has never heard of God or the Gospel, God will in fact judge according to His righteousness, just as he did before or after Gen.9 and further on to Sodom and Gomorra, because the son is not at fault for not hearing the gospel: For the Father is at blame and the Son will not be judged according to the Father’s sin, Jer.31: 29In those days they shall say no more, The fathers have eaten a sour grape, and the children’s teeth are set on edge. 30But every one shall die for his own iniquity: every man that eateth the sour grape, his teeth shall be set on edge. But this theory of “Justification of works without knowledge of God”  is just that for according to My Bible this should never take place because of this one scripture; Matt.24:14And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. And I might add that according to my perceptions that the Lord has given me of this world; that it cannot be much longer for all things of this age to end. Due to this one reason that this entire world has indeed heard of Christmas and if they haven’t they soon will hear of Christ when they ask what is Christmas. Jesus has already told many that Gabriel has the trumpet to his lips and is ready to sound the coming of the Lord!

Morality, Ethics, Honesty and the Fear of the Lord

But when man puts his name on anything spoken or written he is putting his honor on the line, and people have lost the since of what that means anymore in today’s society. We see this with divorce rates as high as they are and as well as so many so called Christians. I call them so called Christians for a reason, when I read my Bible it says we are to do all of His commandments: Precept upon precept, Line upon Line.

The first order of business after salvation is preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ nailed to the cross; crucified for our sins. Jesus died; He poured his blood out on the ground at Calvary, for you and me, so our sins will be covered, seen never again, Jesus was the answer to the curse of sin we inherited from Adam. That curse of sin that got put on all man for this was the total cost of his sin and because of the Law of

Moses that requires a death of a sinless sacrifice for atonement: The blood of a sinless sacrifice; from the Lord our God; for the propitiation of sin forever. Jesus buried for three days rose again under His own power (authority given by the Holy Spirit) or authority because He was God in the flesh and yet He was the firstfruits of man (son of God the flesh) unto the Lord and is sitting on the throne of God because He told us He was the Father, when you have see Me you have seen the Father and from hence forth you have seen Him. John 10:30I and my Father are one (as one as Spirit and flesh can get joined together still two substances, immortal man and Holy Spirit, still One Person Though!). Refer to John4:24.

So the whole point to this subject that I’m expounding on is this, people are weak and cannot keep their word entirely; even if they keep it physically, they will break it mentally. We in this world are all but lost without our salvation coming from Jesus our savior. Man is incapable of saving himself. We all have come short of the glory of God because of this right here the cause: Romans2:20Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. Jesus actually came for two very different reasons to bring life forever and to bring condemnation to the world at the same time.John15:22If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloak for their sin.

Repentance, Baptism in the Water and in the Spirit

Listen up; right here is the big reason why people can’t keep their promises that they have spoken to God at repentance. For one they followed someone else’s oath and just recited whatever that person felt needed to be said. That man had no idea of what your sins or your mental attitudes are towards God and where you need to come to meet Him. He had no idea of what needed to be repented of in the first place, that is between you and God. Repentance is a private ordeal and is to be entered into reverently, for this is oath time; we will either live or die by what we say to Him right here in repentance if we don’t live up to our promise to follow Him. We will burn in the Lake of Fire over what we do in the presence of God when we step forward to come to know Him as our personal savior. For Jesus said if we don’t pick up our cross and follow Him daily we will not be worthy of Him.Luke9:23And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

See Jesus said four things here: 1 come after Him (as to imitate) 2 let him deny himself (this means to but the flesh down and humble yourself and walk in the Spirit) 3 pick up your cross (have a burden for your brother, love for the sinner as well as the saint) 4 and follow Me. (means just that to be a servant or a minister to all of mankind and to be a slave to Jesus Christ and let Him be your master, the King of Kings in your life! If you can’t do this then you don’t love Him and do not deserve His Love. Matt.10:38And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. (These are those who have not obtained salvation in the proper way and are still in sin! Still walking in a worldly manor, and not reaching or witnessing to the lost, the gospel of Jesus Christ and of God’s Grace) You can worship and think you’re saved and have all the emotions to go along with being with God but lack to true joy of knowing Him in the Spirit in which the rest comes from, in knowing God our Lord and savior Jesus with the Love of the Holy

Spirit dwelling inside you, giving you the perfect love of God. For man is to worship God in Spirit and in truth, because His Spirit is the Spirit of Truth (john16:13); John4:24God is a Spirit (an essence and cannot die) (not a true physical person of flesh, bone and blood which holds the life in it, in which one can actually die): and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth (true righteousness apart from the carnality of this world). For if characteristics of a person or titles or acts of achievements where persons then God would be countless and we would have no way of stopping at just three of His manifestations as in the “Trinity of God”.

Costs of Salvation

The anguish the Lord felt the night He prayed relays all that needs to be said, for His sweat was as blood, so what did Jesus do, He prayed even more fervently, because the flesh is weak and must submit to the spirit. Luke22:44And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

The Price that we must pay to be His: Matt.19:21, Luke12:33 & Mark10:21

First I’ve heard it preached this salvation is free, which is not true at all! It will cost you all that you have! God is looking for disciples, stewards, and ministers, prophets, servants, administrators, etc. Those of us, who are willing to give their all to Him, forsaking all others to follow Him. Matt.10: 32Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. 33But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. 34Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. 35For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. 36And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household. 37He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.38And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.39He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it. 40He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me. 41He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward. 42And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

Jesus came to cause dissention, to bring father against son, mother against daughter, but the bottom line is this: We must seek Him with all we have, for He will take nothing less, did He not give it all on the cross at Calvary? He will take nothing less than all of our hearts, minds, spirits, souls, and strength! Nothing short of full devotion is required and is a must if we are to be His children.

Falling by the wayside

This is the biggest reason why we have so many so called Christians living in today’s society, for one they have no clue to actually what is the cost and are not living a righteous life in Christ Jesus. They have never read the entire Bible all the way through for themselves, and studied it on a daily bases and the other reason is that they have not been washed in the blood of Jesus or even baptized in His name as required in Acts 2:38, 39 or even receive the Holy Ghost! Unless you receive the Holy Ghost how is one to interpret the Bible correctly without the Spirit leading the way. Many people today just think repentance is feeling sorry for what has been done in the past, but that is just the beginning of repentance. Full repentance is a turning AWAY from ERROR back into the path of RIGHTEOUSNESS. And then not getting out of the path to the right hand or the left, for narrow is the way and strait is the gate: Being a Christian takes a bona fide effort, Jesus never said it was going to be easy, if it were easy everybody would be one, kind of like today’s Modern-day Emerging Church!  Here’s all I have to say to this emerging church; Isa.28: 15Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves: 16Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.

He that believeth shall not make haste

I’m not for putting off getting saved; all I’m saying is do your due diligence, for the scripture says work out your own salvation and you had better do it in all reverence and with fear in your heart, for I would not want to fall into the hands of an angry God Heb.10:29-31; Phip.2:12: This is where people get into all kinds of trouble, first they never truly repented, second they were never baptized in the only name given by which salvation comes, Acts4:12 and knowing who Jesus is as in John8:24  I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, (God in the flesh refer to John20:28 if Jesus was not God He would have corrected Thomas right then and there. 1Tim3:16 & Col2:8-10 as well as 1john5:20)  ye shall die in your sins.

When one is water baptized in the proper way he may present himself before the Lord and receive the Holy Spirit with the evidences given in Acts2, for the Lord is the same yesterday today and forever Heb.13:8 from Heb.1:12 from Isaiah40:8 8The grasses withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand forever. If one is worthy and the Lord has searched them and found them fit; the Lord sometimes baptizes in the Spirit before the water baptism but you must be born of the water and the Spirit before you can truly worship in Spirit and in truth; John3:3 & 5: 3Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. Matt.3:15 so that all righteousness maybe fulfilled. This is part of the operations of God that must be completed and fulfilled in order to come into His kingdom.

If you have not the Holy Ghost and do not speak in tongues you are none of still His: Rom.8: 9But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man has not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. For example we use Peter and Cornelius in Acts10: 44While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. 45And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. 46For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, 47Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? 48And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord (Jesus’ name). Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

Die to self and the Rebirth

The rebirth is just that; we die to self and receive Jesus’ Spirit and walk in light (likeness) of His truth of His ways as in His life. We no longer look at this world as our level of righteousness, for if we do not judge ourselves against His infallible word we will be lost as before, for the world cannot receive His Spirit for it is foolishness to them: (today’s emerging church believes we all get baptized with the Spirit as soon as we come up out of the water but this is not true, the evidences of tongues was given as a sign for just that reason so someone would know when they receive it: Trust me for years I thought I was baptized in the Spirit until it truly happened, and the gift of tongues, and prophesy as well as other signs came upon me.)  John14:16, 17: 16And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; 17Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. When we get baptized in His Spirit we receive power from on high (the fire) that enables us to stay in His word, when we put the flesh down and live for Him. This is the total devotion and the commitment to the promise spoken at repentance. For God sees to the heart of man, and if we have not received it is because we asked amiss:  James1:16Do not err, my beloved brethren.17Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, (the gift of the Spirit originated that way and will always have the evidence of speaking in tongues, because God changes not, and that’s the way He comes into our hearts the same way with Fire) neither shadow of turning. (This is how they will be known by others because of the signs and wonders, by the power of His spirit John14:12-15)18Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.19Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: 20For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God. 21Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. 22But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.23For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: 24For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. 25But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. 26If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain. 27Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this: To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.  Refer to1Thes.5:22.

Now discipleship and Stewardship Begin

Repent of your sins to our God and Savior Jesus, be baptized in His truth and Spirit in His glorious name in the water of death to self and raise out of the water in newness of life born again in water of cleansing as in the washing of the sacrifice before it was excepted in the Tabernacle in the wilderness, and the purification of the priests before they were anointed with oil were washed and sanctified, and in His Spirit and likeness, this is the true rebirthing process. No one ever said it was going to be easy, it’s not until you do one simple thing. Learn to Love God with all your heart, then it starts to get real easy from there on! For does not the Bible say the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. When we learn to reverse our thought pattern to the Spirit before the flesh and humble ourselves, we then begin to realize a break through.

Fallen by the wayside

Unless we are baptized in the Spirit, we are lost when reading His scriptures, without His spirit to guide us and to help us with interpretations: These are those that I have talked about before, that start out really well but have not the fire that only comes from the Lord’s Spirit, spoken of by John the Baptist; Matt.3:11he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: This is the reason right here so many think they are with the Lord yet cannot keep from going back to the world and doing the same things all over again, as well as they start reading the Bible and lose heart. Because the Lord’s not there with them holding their hand through the process of the learning and interpretation, look to Isa28:13 But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken. (The people who have not the Spirit of Jesus will be those that start to read the word and lose heart, fall backwards, and break away from daily prayer, praise, and stop reading the word because they don’t understand it, lose ambitions or the Fire, because they never really received it. These are those people that fall back into the worldly ways and go straight back to doing just what they did before they were so called saved!)  Every one of God’s scriptures are to be read, eaten and thoroughly digested, not just the ones someone thinks needs to be read and you can do without the others: like some people I know that say to only concentrate on the New Testament, for that is what matters to this day and age, true but unless you read and know and thoroughly understand the Old as well as the New how are you going to keep from doing the same old mistakes the Israelites did that upset the Lord, in that the Lord looked to the gentiles to graft in a people who knew not the Lord, to make His people jealous. For how easy it would be to graft in the natural branch back into the vine than the wild one, which will be done in the future anyway.

We see so many today trying so hard to get right with the Lord but always missing the mark for one reason, they have not the proper teachers teaching apostolic doctrine directly from scriptures. When man who has no idea of how to speak in a heavenly tongue tries to teach, we see this problem arising, look back to prior verses in Isaiah28 for we see the answer right there.11For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. This is how we preach this gospel as well as teach it, we let the Spirit move us to teach in light of His guidance, then we can get all of His word to our heart: 10For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: in the right order by the leading of His Spirit we see how to become His people; and then we can start to be fed, 9Whom shall he teach knowledge? And whom shall he make to understand doctrine? Them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts: (Those that have been baptized in His Spirit can start to eat solid food of His hard scriptures or dark sayings sometimes called the parables as well as Paul’s hard sayings.)

This is the very reason many have come to stumble in their walk with the Lord, they have not made the transition from Child of the World to Child of God in the Spirit, no wonder we have so many so called preachers that need true revelation being preached to them before they preach to Another living soul, for this is indeed the blind leading the blind straight to the gates of Hell’s Fire!

Many are called but few are chosen

I have shown more than enough to get most on the road to repentance, forgiveness and baptism in God’s Spirit; but that is entirely up to you, how you go about it, for this is your walk. (But don’t get off the path to the right hand or the left.) I can’t go before you and ask God to forgive you or lead anyone through some sinners prayer but I can pray for you and if you are baptized in His glorious name and Spirit then He will forgive your sins and make you whole, James5: 15And the prayer of faith shall save the sick (mentally and physically), and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he has committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.  16Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual ferv-ent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. For we are all called by God but few will receive Him in all His glory; Rev3:20Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hears my voice, and opens the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. 21To him that overcometh (The world and carnality with, man’s traditions, philosophy and this trinity doctrine, that came from man and not out of His irrefutable word “The Holy Bible”.) will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father (I and My Father are one, John10:30) in his throne. (Because God in this New Testament age is now manifested in the flesh) 22He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

Paul instructs Timothy in 2Tim. 19Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let everyone that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.20But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.21If a man therefore purge himself from these, (from the world and sanctify himself for God’s use) he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.

This is only done after we prove ourselves and our faith is held true under his testing or proving: Rev.3:15I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. 16So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. This is those who have lost the Fire and are not doing His will and making disciples of all nations and people, when God loves you He will test you to see if you truly love Him: Rev.3: 19As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten (test, purify, and make ready for use): be zealous therefore, and repent.

The miss understood word of Grace

I feel that so many people are out here preaching of “this day or age of grace” and we live in an age of grace and that we can do anything we wish and say oh I’m sorry God I’ll try and do better and it will be ok. Heads up fly ball, this lie is going to be all over you; you’ll chase it all the way to the broad path that leads straight to hell’s slippery slope, to the big Lake of Fire!  Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. He is the light of the world that allows us to have light in the darkness of this world, to follow His narrow path (means difficult) and enter at the straight gate (for it would be easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a sinner to enter therein). Many the first thing they say is I’m saved by faith and not by works which is the works of the Law of Moses to the Jews, but yet we have those laws put upon our hearts and in our minds now and yes we live by faith but faith without works is dead James2 teaches this: 17Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. 18Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.19Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. (How many people tremble now days? Even understand that there is only One God our Lord Jesus) 20But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?  21Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?  22Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?  23And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. 24Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. 25Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?  26For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

The most convincing is what is taught by Jesus in John14:15 If ye love Me, keep My commandments. I love simplicity! Or Else the long version in Luke13:24Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able (for the order of operations that God has instructed for us to do must be kept, they have to be kept in order to enter into His court and His mansion, for we all will see the throne room, but who will see the rest of His kingdom?). 25When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are: 26Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets. 27But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity (these are those that did not have a burden and pick up their cross for they are not worthy of Him). 28There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out. 29And they shall come from the east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God. 30And, behold, there are last which shall be first, and there are first which shall be last. These are those who have made themselves ready to enter into His kingdom and have gowned themselves with His royal robes so that they may attend the wedding feast of the bride! (Eph4: 3Endeavouring to keep the unity (God cannot be divided He is omni-present) of the Spirit in the bond of peace. 4There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; 5One Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. 7But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.)  Please people read 1John5:1-20 and learn that Jesus is the true God. And Thomas harmonizes this verse as well in John20:28.

You want to go to heaven then listen to this prophet: find you a wise teacher who preaches just straight apostolic doctrines and learn how to “rightly dividing” the word of God so you can rebuke a false prophet or a teacher of today’s emerging church; 2Tim2: 15Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

If you seek Him in all righteous and in a love of your heart He will find you and give to you freely; 1Kings3: 13And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honour: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days. 14And if thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will lengthen thy days. (Like forever to eternity) Matt.6:33But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. And this is the long and short of it; 1Tim.4:16Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.

  • Now I’ve found something written a long time ago and I think it is still current and helps explain the true meaning of grace according to God’s eyes and as well as what we should be seeking in true grace”:

The Mystery Doctrine of Grace

By F. W. Krummacher (1796 – 1868)

What is the principle thing in Christianity? On what does all finally depend and what is the surest sign of a state of grace? These questions, my brethren, are not difficult to answer. The principal thing, and the surest touchstone of Christianity, is this: that our godliness should shine forth in our life, business, and all our walk and conversation; in our sufferings, in avoiding of evil, in patience, in meekness, in peacefulness, in compassion, in industry, and in a faithful discharge of our daily calling. “Let your light so shine before men,” said the Lord, “That they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.” “Not everyone that says unto Me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven, but he that does the will of My Father which is in heaven.” “By their fruit you shall know them.” “Show me your faith by your works,” says James. And Paul says, “Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.”

“You are,” exclaimed Peter, “a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people, that you should show forth the praises of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.”

In these, and many other passages of Holy Scripture, all our boasted godliness and fancied merit, are pronounced worthless and hypocritical; yes, even judged and condemned, when they do not so affect our hearts, as to produce a virtuous life, fruitful in good works. “Without holiness,” says God “no man shall see the Lord.” And in the first epistle of John we find, “He that commits sin is of the devil; and whoever is born of God, does not commit sin; for His seed remains in him: and he cannot commit sin, because he is born of

God.” “Whoever is born of God, sins not.” This is a remarkable passage; how are we to understand it? Are they who are born again really free from all sin?

Need they no longer daily renew the complaints and sighs of a contrite heart, that they have been so remiss in their most sacred obligations; in love to their God, and to their brethren? Does not John himself declare, “If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us”; yes, we make God a liar. How then can we bring these two passages, which seem to contradict each other, into unison? This will not be so difficult, my brethren, if we look more closely at the context. John tells us explicitly why the regenerated do not sin. He says, “He does not commit sin, because His seed (the seed of God, the seed of the new life from God, Christ Jesus, who is the true life) remains in him.

Whoever is truly born of God, has obtained another nature, a new life: he has become a new creature in Christ Jesus; he sees sin in its most frightful form, and abhors it as the greatest evil; he hates it as an act of enmity towards God—as the murderer of his Savior, his own life, his salvation. Nothing is so horrible, so odious to him, as sin; he bears in his heart a deep and sincere desire, and an earnest prayer renewed daily and hourly, to be delivered from the bondage of this tyrant, and to serve the Lord in the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. The Savior has enlightened him from pure mercy, so that he has recognized his wretched condition through sin; He has atoned for his sins by the death struggle on the cross; He has forgiven his transgressions, and purified him in His own blood, and made him blessed and holy, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit. This astonishing grace, this unspeakable mercy has eternally estranged him from sin; sin has become detestable to him, it is a crying abomination, a most unnatural ingratitude, and therefore he hates, avoids, flees, and curses sin; and prays, strives, sighs, and uses his utmost endeavors to root it from his heart.
But how is this possible? Does not the seed of the serpent yet reign within him? Do not the most beloved children of grace still sigh and groan under the weight of their transgressions? Is not the Christian’s pillow often moistened with the tears of godly sorrow and repentance? Truly it is, but yet even in this distress and lamentation, this strife against sin, and this imploring of the sanctifying power of the blood of Christ, there is proof given, that he who is born again has received a new nature which cannot sin, to which sin is a strange, disgusting, and unfriendly element; and that the old Adam, which exists in sin, has, nevertheless, received a death wound which will by degrees cause his destruction.

We ought to try and examine ourselves, sincerely as before the sight of God, whether we know this new life by experience. Many deceive themselves, many pretend to have the seed of God in them, many imagine themselves in a state of grace when it is not so; and the consequence of this will be, that they will turn the grace of God into licentiousness, and still continue to go on in sin. Where grace has really been experienced, it breathes death against the pleasures of sin. We will now consider this so frequent an abuse—not of grace, but of the doctrine of grace.

In Your light, oh Lord! Shall we see light? Lift up the light of Your countenance upon us, that we may be healed. Your mercy is great to those that fear You. How unnumbered are the wonders which You do to Your children! Your affections yearn with compassion; You had pity upon the miserable, Oh God! Give us the eye of faith? You gave Your only beloved Son, Your heart’s treasure, to be despised on earth, in the deepest lowliness, in contempt, to bear grief, death, and the curse; You allowed Him to be trodden under the foot of sinners, that Your enemies, Your despisers, might not be lost. Oh Lord! Give us the eye of faith; give us a heart to understand heavenly things; let us but be aware of a part of You our Savior’s overflowing mercy; then shall we forever be removed into Your comfort, and show forth Your praise in time and in eternity. Give us to understand the true nature of sin, so that the name of Jesus may be precious to us above all things. Declare unto us something of the riches of Your compassion, of the stability of Your truth, of the unchangeableness of Your promises, of the all-sufficiency of the holy sacrifice of Golgotha, and especially of our own nothingness and our deep guilt, that it may lead us to depend daily on You, and to look to You for grace, as our only means of existence.

Oh, Lord! Guard us from hypocrisy, which is an abomination to You. Let Your grace and truth dwell within us, that we may never, like the foolish virgins, call in vain: “Lord, Lord, open to us!” Grant us a pure, sincere, and upright heart, a spirit free from guile, a single eye! But if we are without the humble, childlike spirit; if, instead of truth itself, we have only the words of truth; and if we have only as yet attained to that degree of knowledge and sense which leaves us unfruitful, slothful, cold, proud, impure, without the daily fervent communion of prayer with You, without chastisement, without desire for sanctification; then remove the scales from our eyes, and break the white sepulcher of our hearts, that from it we may run in terror, and fall in sincere contrition at Your feet to acknowledge from the deepest heartfelt experience, that   You are perfect grace and truth. Then shall we, oppressed by hatred of sin, moved by Your unmerited love and faithfulness, animated by Your Spirit, clothed with the garment of Your righteousness, overpowered by Your free grace, “give diligence to make our calling and election sure, for if we do this we shall never fall.” Lord, be merciful to us, and bless Your Word to us! Amen.
“What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid! How shall we that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?” Romans6:1, 2.Guided by these words, we will consider the abuse of the doctrine of grace under the three following heads.

  • 1. How is it possible that the abuse of the doctrine of grace is so easy, and therefore so frequent and
    customary?
  • 2. That it is a crime, and therefore worthy of punishment.
  • 3. How can a man be delivered from that error, and attain the right use of this doctrine?

And while this important subject is under our consideration, may our merciful God shed His blessing upon us, and make His truth powerful in our hearts for Christ’s sake.

Before, however, we commence a close examination of these three heads. We will make a few remarks upon the subject of grace in general. We are necessitated to do so by the words of our text, which stand in intimate connection with the preceding verses. In the fifth chapter of Romans, Paul describes the riches of the grace of God in Christ Jesus. The riches of this grace are superabundantly great; so great that none can number them; yes, speech will fail if they are only reflected upon. We, miserable, condemned, cursed, sinners, can and shall be saved in the midst of all our wretchedness. We have deserved that God should take no more heed of us, but leave us to take our course the way of destruction. We have derided and despised His law, His love, His mercy, His truth, His representations, His entreaties, His calls to repentance, His earthly and spiritual blessings. Our conscience bears witness to the truth of this. It is written in burning characters which cannot be quenched, though you were to pour a sea of streams upon them. But, behold, all these sins God will overlook. The Lord of glory appeared to us, clothed in flesh and blood like ours, tangible and audible to our senses, like a human being, but poor; He veiled the rays of His Divine majesty that we might not fear Him and flee from Him; but might draw near to Him with childlike simplicity, as to our equal. Further, He stepped into the gap; He bowed Himself beneath the law, and accomplished it as an obedient servant, for love of us, and in our stead. All He said and did was performed for our benefit, and it all has a meritorious property, and is all-sufficient as an expiation. Finally, He submitted to the torments of hell and condemnation, which we have deserved, and was made a curse instead of us, and died the bitter death of a malefactor. “God made Him to be sin for us who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.”
Yes, God offers a complete justification in the Son of His love, to all poor, miserable, condemned sinners. We may thus appear in His presence, not only free from the curse, from punishment and sin, but holy, righteous, guiltless, without blemish, clothed in the beaming, spotless robe of the righteousness of our Surety, in which even the eyes of the Holy God can discern no stain of sin. We may approach the most wretched sinner, and say to him, “There is a Redeemer, a Comforter, a Surety, a Savior for you, who can fill you with the peace of God, who can pour into your breast the most blessed hopes of future glory, who can even in the midst of the valley of tears build you a habitation of peace, against which all the waves, storms, and floods in the world, will spend their strength in vain!
When his tears and prayers have been for some time answered, and he can lay hold of Jesus with the hand of faith, then the Savior plucks him as a brand from the burning, and presents him before the presence of His Father as a pardoned child of God, to whom all things have worked together for good. Mark! Not merely for his salvation, but for his good! It is true that we lost much—no all by Adam’s sin. The image of God was destroyed, and we are reduced to so powerless a state, that we cannot stretch forth the withered hand to pluck the fruit from the tree of life. But behold! Listen! Be astonished, and pray! There is a free grace of God, which without any respect of persons, can save to the uttermost, and pardon sins of the deepest dye! We speak to all sinners—to old sinners, to young sinners, to adulterers, thieves, murderers, slanderers, blasphemers, the voluptuary, the deceiver, and the Sabbath breaker—however deformed and soiled by sin, though they may deserve eternal condemnation a thousand fold, we call to you aloud, our heart impressed with the sincerest love for your souls: You may now be delivered from all your guilt, yes even today you may gain justification of life in Jesus Christ.
You need bring nothing of your own; you can be cured permanently and gratuitously of all your own sins and misdeeds; Jesus will absolve you from all; and give you forgiveness of sins, a new birth, faith, sanctification, safety and glorification; He will save you, convert, justify, favor, and bless you; yes, He will dwell in you, and walk in you, and you shall be in Him what He was and is, the holy and beloved One of God!
O my brethren, how blessed is the man, who, overcome by this free grace, is removed out of himself and incorporated with Christ. His grace swallows up all our sins, and all our evil, like a fathomless sea; and introduces all the treasures of heavenly glory into our souls. This grace raises us above all cares, and leads us to repose in the depths of the eternal love of God; this grace finishes the work begun in us; and never ceases from correcting, healing, strengthening, and blessing us; it screens, and arms us against all the enemies of our salvation; it helps us to bear our cross; it conducts us through the narrow path of death, to the regions of eternal glory; it constitutes our song of praise throughout eternity.
Then what shall I say, my brothers and sisters, but that whoever is born of this blessed mother, to the light of life; whoever has exper-ienced anything of the riches of its tenderness and truth, and has truly been convinced, by the light of God’s Word, of the depth and extent of his wretched condition, must feel that it is impossible to describe the value of this grace. We cannot sufficiently appreciate its unspeakable value; the most ardent songs of praise are but poor and weak in comparison. And yet it is a melancholy truth, which bears fearful testimony to the deep corruption of the human heart that though the prophets and apostles zealously applied themselves to guard this precious doctrine from corruption, yet it was necessary at all times, notwithstanding and it is to the present day, to preach with unabated zeal against its abuse.

We have already said that this abuse of the doctrine of the free grace of God in Christ Jesus is very easy. Is it truly thus? If I am in danger of sinking in a deep and muddy stream and a compassionate savior throws his self into the water and rescues me at the hazard of his own life; should I forget my preserver and his deed of love, and throw myself afresh into the stream, the depths of which threatened to destroy me? Should I not rather, all my life long, be eager to testify my gratitude to my faithful benefactor? Should I not anxiously avoid the dark stream and its frightful depths, and sincerely hate and abhor it?

Oh my brethren, whoever has experienced real grace, who knows grace in its true character, and sees clearly that the Lord might justly have left him to perish, but that He has saved him, out of His free mercy, by the offering up of His own life; and not only that, but has also chosen him from the foundation of the world, looked upon him as a righteous child of God, and made him blessed to all eternity; he ought to dread nothing so much as a continuance in sin, and daily desire nothing more fervently than to be faithful to this Savior until death. But, truly, this experience does not fall to the lot of every man, and hence the abuse of it.
Men talk about free grace without having the slightest acquaintance with it from personal experience; instead of living in the element of grace, they have nothing but a mere head knowledge, (lacking understanding) or a superficial perception of it in their hearts; a complete break with the world, the flesh, and the devil, has not yet taken place; the conscience sleeps the sleep of death, and Christ is regarded as a mere substitute, whom the sinner thinks will make up the deficiency of his own fancied merit. Thus the abuse of this doctrine becomes very easy. When the whole head, the whole heart is filled with false premises, how can we be surprised that they should lead to the most false—no, infamous conclusions? What wonder is it that such a man, who chatters about grace without having become acquainted with it from heartfelt experience, with the tears of repentance, should appropriate the kindness of this Redeemer to himself, in such a manner as to leave his heart and life unchanged.
Only imagine to yourself a man who has yet to learn his deeply sinful condition in the sight of God. He hears how Christ has atoned for all; how He has offered a perfect sacrifice for the salvation of sinners, that His blood washes out all sin; that nothing further remains to be completed; that man must be saved by free grace, without the merit of works; he hears, that all which serves to advance a godly life and walk, must be bestowed by the Savior; and that we can do literally nothing without Him. The sinner’s own inability is to him welcome intelligence; it is like an agreeable pillow to repose on. “This,” thinks he “may be turned to some account.” “You have sinned,” says he to himself, “consequently the Savior belongs to you, He has blotted out your sins; His merits, His righteousness, are yours.”
He torments himself, and labors to bring his opinions to these truths; he appeals as being entirely orthodox to the promises of the Word of God; he believes himself called to repel all the accusations of the law, and of his own conscience, and allows himself to go on quite smoothly, as though everything were in the best possible condition. He has perhaps wept once over his sins; has accused himself, by a few strong expressions, as a lost sinner; has experienced the insufficiency of his own resolutions, and has deduced from a superficial insight into the demands of the law that he cannot stand before God in his present state. He now places Christ before him, and firmly persuades himself that he belongs to the elect of God and that none can have anything against him. He troubles not himself as to whether he daily experiences the workings of grace in his heart, whether he is become a new creature, and sin is destroyed within him; he thinks that in his own perception of the doctrine of grace, and in the humble acknowledgments which he makes of his necessity of it, he possesses the fullest security that he belongs to the people of God; and considers—truly in a manner which excites horror when closely viewed—that this and every other declaration of the Bible may be brought forward to justify his apparent Christianity. Yes, he may perhaps be a zealous advocate for free grace; while he himself is still lying under the wrath of God, and has no spark of grace in his heart.
Perhaps you think that this abuse of the doctrine of grace is of infrequent occurrence, By no means. Most men are sick with the same disease. Why is it, that you are so quiet, so careless, so happy, so confident, so gay, so merry, while you belong to the children of this world? With which do you comfort yourself? You must die; you are traveling towards eternity! You must appear before the judgment seat of God; you have broken the law of God, and deserved the wrath of the Almighty. This you cannot deny. If your mouth says, No! No! Your heart cries, Yes, Amen, it is true. How can your heart have rest while these truths are existing; while the reproaches of your conscience are loud, and warnings of death, and the judgment to come, fill your breast?

God is gracious,” you say; and with this you try to cover your sins, and to still the goading of your conscience, as well as you can. But, in God’s name how can you believe in the grace of that God whom you despise; whose Word and commandment you reject; and whom you daily and hourly offend by your sins against Him? But you answer, not withstanding, “God is merciful”; and thus you continue in your sins, in your impenitence, in your enmity against God; you lie and deceive, revel and rage, hate and covet, curse and swear; and spend your day in vain title tattle. Is not this abusing the grace of God? Do we not continually abuse His patience more and more, while we walk along the broad way of destruction as unconverted men?

But what shall we say of those who have really an insight into the grace of God, in the Gospel, and yet knowingly and willingly continue in their sins, or even only in one single sin? Have these hypocrites disap-peared, or can we speak of such people as monsters, who are not to be met with in our country? Would to God it were so, but sad exper-ience teaches us to the contrary. Even here, among us in this country, where the knowledge of Christianity has the pre-eminence; where it is less subject to reproach than elsewhere; where the name of the Lord Jesus is acknowledged, even in our neighborhood, it is beyond all things necessary to warn you against the abuse of the doctrine of grace.
Even here there is a very large number of such, who have certainly the appearance of leading a godly life, while they deny the power of it, and declare by their actions, that though they can talk fluently about free grace they have always resisted its chastisement, which would have subdued their ungodly dispositions. Alas! There are but few who earnestly engage in a determined warfare against sin. Most people content themselves with mere knowledge, thoughts, feelings, acknow-ledgments, and speeches; while they, more or less, willfully turn the comforting truths of the Gospel into a pillow for their sins to rest upon. Thus the free grace of God is extolled by many who openly continue in their sins; and publicly mark themselves, by their pride or indolence; by their judging arrogance and uncharitable speeches; by their fraud and reveling; by their falsehood, avarice, and other vices, as men who know not the true life in grace.

We meet with many people who are zealous defenders of the truth, while in the observance of their domestic and civil duties they come far behind the great mass of the carnally minded and careless children of the world. They are always extolling the Savior, His merits, His free mercy, while they daily make Him the servant of sin. Men are anxious, truly, to be preserved from the curse, from the final punishment of sin; but they submit to the dominion of this or that sin, without any serious combat. And if men are urgently called to combat sin, they call it all legality, while they make the Gospel, in a carnal manner, favor their indolence and impurity and run the doctrine of grace into an intoxi-cating draught, against the voice of the law and of their conscience.

Alas! The number of those who are true believers, and who in all points grow up to the full measure of the stature of Christ, living in the element of free grace, with the greatest purity, is very small; many, many hearts are filled with the leaven of the Pharisees; and the dangerous disease of the abuse of the doctrine of grace is an epidemic which snatches away numberless victims.

2. But this is very melancholy—it cries to heaven, it is beyond all measure lamentable. For what is as criminal as for man to degrade Jesus to the rank of a servant of sin, and His Gospel to be a passport for all immorality, to a resting place for his own indolence? What! Has the Son of God trembled and mourned beneath the weight of your sins? Has He endured the floods of torment, and the pains of hell? Has He, forsaken by God, hung upon the cross, and breathed out His precious life there, in order that you might in carnal indolence serve dead idols? Behold, the Eternal God opens His whole heart to you; He follows you, in all your goings; He blesses and delights you in a thousand different ways; He sets before you the most splendid offers for the redemption of your soul; He sends His Divine grace to meet you; and is ready, like a tender mother, to take care of you, to refresh you; and yet you continue with your dead heart to praise his love with your mouth, yet turning this same love into a cloak for your wickedness.
What are these sins which you commit? Are they not, as it were so many blows from your hand, directed against the infinite love of God? Are they not like the traitor kiss of Judas, worthy of the deepest abhorrence? You say, “God has chosen me, saved me, regenerated me; He has snatched me as a brand from the burning; He has forgiven me my sins; He has received me among the number of His elect, and has embraced me with His free grace.”
If God has done all this for you, how can you endure the thought of daily crucifying your merciful Redeemer afresh, and causing him to mourn? Talk not of your awakening, talk not of the grace of God; you have as yet never known the hellish nature of sin, nor have you experienced the true meaning of pardon. If the Lord has chosen, saved, favored, and blessed you, should you not in deep humility bow yourself to the dust? Your heartfelt love for God, who has thus loved you, should daily incite you to gratitude: “For to this end has God chosen us,” says Paul, “that we should be holy and unblameable before Him in love.” If you can so far abuse the Gospel of the grace of God, as to bear to continue even in one single sin, without contrition, striving, and fighting against it, and without the most earnest wish to subdue it; you are a dreadful hypocrite, and your sins are by far more hateful and abominable than the sins of those who do not possess your knowledge.
If, however, the abuse of the doctrine of grace is such a horrible and crying sin, such an unnatural wickedness, its punishment will likewise be fearful. We see a proof of this in Judas Iscariot, the traitor. This ungodly wretch imagined that he was in the favor of Jesus, and belonged to the number of His elect; but he deceived himself, it was not so. He was in secret alliance with sin. He was devoted to avarice; and he coveted, and stole, under the very eyes of Him whose disciple he pretended to be. He even journeyed about with the other Apostles; preached the name of Jesus; and who knows but that he was not more conversant with the doctrines of the Gospel than the rest of the Apostles put together?
But what did it avail him? Discord gnawed at his vitals; an evil conscience tormented him as often as he came under his Master’s eye; a warning from the lips of his Lord sounded in his ear, as the thunder of the judgment; until at last the flames of despair; which consumed his vitals, burst forth—until he, finally, in the grasp of this despair, put an end to himself with horror and dread.

Yes, if you apprehend the doctrine of grace, only carnally; if you leave it as a useless treasure of knowledge, to dwell only in the head, instead of within the heart; if you lend but a finger to Satan, while you pretend to be giving your whole hand to Jesus, and are knowingly and willfully under the dominion of the least appearance of sin; then you are on the direct road which Judas took to eternal damnation. The abuse of this doctrine is the most dreadful ingratitude, the most fearful mockery of the living God, which men can commit—the most hateful insult which we can show to the Lord. What wonder is it that the Lord, who will not be mocked, threatens it with the most dreadful punishments?
3. Yes! Our compassionate God guards and warns us, that we may not in future receive our portion with the hypocrites. He assists us in His mercy, which we may be secured from the abuse of His grace, and may attain to the right and proper use of it. How does this appear? How are we to attain to it? We will shortly, in the last place, consider this. We have seen already how this abominable sin is very easy to commit; how common it is; and how criminal, and therefore how worthy of punish-ment. If you have attentively and considerately followed what has been hitherto said, you will have remarked, that we spoke not so much of the abuse of grace itself, as of the abuse of the doctrine of grace. There is a wide difference between the two.

The doctrine of grace may be viewed in a false, sinful light, and looked at only on one side, so as to have no influence—at least, no deep, essential influence—upon the reason and actions of the man. But is this possible with grace itself? “God forbid,” says Paul, “that we who are dead to sin should live any longer therein!” True grace contains a death blow to all sin, and a powerful incitement to all goodness. Whoever has truly found grace in the eyes of the Lord, has seen sin in all its most hateful forms, and knows its curse, its deserving of condem-nation, and has engaged in warm combat against it; bearing a bitter hatred towards it in his heart, and not even having any inward desire in his soul but this, to consecrate his whole heart, his whole life to the Lord, who has in so unmerited a manner saved him, and drawn him to Himself.
But whoever can grieve this Eternal Comforter, by even one single sin; whoever can reconcile his heart to take pleasure in any sinful deed or desire, has placed a phantom, an airy conception of his brain, in the stead of real grace; and does not belong to those who have exper-ienced the grace of God, and are become partakers of it. If you wish then to be freed from the abuse of grace, and to attain to the right use of it, behold I can give you no other advice than this: Learn to know the grace of God by experience. In grace alone, where it is in truth experienced lays all saving power. Learn to see what you are in the sight of God; what you deserve according to His law; learn to know, how it is only through His free mercy that your salvation can be affected; and that He has affected it. You must descend from the proud height of your imagined righteousness, until you know yourself, as Paul did, to be the chief of sinners, who has deserved everlasting wrath, curse, damnation, and hell; but who is not worthy of the least benefit from God.

When you have learned this in deep humility, then the grace of God will become great and precious to you; then you will perceive what a hateful hellish monster all sin, and every sin, is; then it will be your chief desire daily and hourly to destroy all and each sin; yes, then will your heart lay hold of the free grace of God, so that in the deepest heartfelt humility, love, and thankfulness, you will offer yourself as a living sacrifice for the great love with which the Lord has loved you, and will ever love you.
Means of grace are not lacking to us. If it is the real intention of your heart and not only of your lips to attain to grace; if the Spirit of God has kindled a longing after God in you, then you will faithfully employ the Word of God, prayer, and the holy sacraments; and avoid all occasions of sin, and frivolous, vain, worldly society; and strive with all your efforts, and all the powers at your command, to attain the goal—the everlasting blessedness of your soul.

Thus we return anew to begging and entreating you, and admonishing you in Christ’s stead: “be reconciled to God.” No longer reject the saving hand of your Surety; fall at His feet, and become His blessed heritage. With all the riches of His house, with all the precious blood-bought treasures of His kingdom, with all His most holy merits, with his spotless righteousness, with endless peace, with joy which infinitely outweighs all earthly pleasures, the Everlasting Comforter appears before your soul to crown it with grace and mercy. Oh, receive the presents of this bountiful Lord. Draw Him towards yourself with all the treasures of His grace, and He will establish, strengthen, and settle you in the blessed experience that His grace shall never depart from you, or the covenant of His peace fail.

Closing

I myself can add little to what has so beautifully been said by my Elder, brother F. W. Krummacher over one hundred and forty three years ago, all I can add is this, if we don’t find a way to love Jesus Christ with all our hearts, minds, spirits, souls, and most importantly with all of our strength and the strength of the Holy Spirit in us fighting sin in this world we are not in His will, and are still sorrowfully lost; if we do not reach the Lost. We must seek our own salvation and keep ourselves clean, spotless, sanctified and consecrated for His Glorious Calling, so our testimony will have a weight of conviction to it because not only to we preach holiness, sanctification, and consecration, we must meet His required practices, sayings, judgments and to keep His commandments as well as seek and to save! This is a fulltime position.

God’s standards have not changed over the years so why should our churches; just to meet this modern-  day man’s traditions, that are going to perish in his own foolishness. If we can’t find a way to live with all of the Lord’s scriptures seared into our heart and burned into our flesh just as we see men today with tattoos from head to foot, we should represent the very word of God written all over us for the whole world to see as well as hear from our lips to their deaf ears, we must find a way into their hearts and souls; eternity in hell is not fit for man, God’s perfect creation to end up in. It was reserved for the adversary who deserves to be bound in it; “The Lake of Eternal Fire!” “May the Lord take a liken to your soul on judgment day!” Have a blessed day and remember Acts2:38, 39 and everything else will fall into place, after you have been baptized in the Lord our God’s loving Spirit in the only name in which salvation is obtained in Jesus’ name.
